& Video
(Session Musician)
KIM
Boux Is a co- Founder of MotorMouth

the studio up 5 years ago with some business
friends when his daughter
Rebecca started to show some talent in the vocal
area.
Since
then, Rebecca’s talent has grown and so has the
studio. Kim brings a lot of technical experience
to the studio. He has had many years working
with all sorts of electronic equipment such as
amplifiers, pa systems, microphones, recording
gear, etc. Kim was the co founder of the
Victoria based rock band "Fine Line" that
was around for several years. He is also very good bass player when he puts his mind to it
and stays in practice. Kim helps
run
the studio along with other individuals. He performs all the sound
engineering, assists with musical arrangements,
works with the protégés and clients and also
runs the video production end of things. Kim
also has and unbelievable talent brewing lots and
lots of coffee! But only on Very cold days.
Dave
Gallant
AKA
(Somebody get me a Cheese Burger)
Artist
& Repertoire (A&R), Artist Management,
Session Musician
Dave
Gallant is a musician and a singer/songwriter and owner
of "David L. Gallant &
Associates", an artist management
company. Past clients have included the Juno
nominated Puente's Brothers. Current clients
include up and coming singer/songwriter, Rebecca
Boux.
Dave brings over forty years of experience in the
music business to the table. His role at
Motormouth Studio is to seek out new and promising
talent in association with the studio, council and
guide the careers of the artists who are
brought into the fold. He is also available as
a session player for the studio.
Dave
comes from a musical family. His dad
was a fine guitar player and singer and several
uncles also played an assortment of instruments
from guitar to fiddle and mandolin. The
music was mainly country and blue grass with the
Celtic flavor of the Maritimes thrown in for good
measure.
Dave
spent his teenage years growing up in Montreal
during the late 50' and early 60's where he first
learned to play Ventures tunes. Soon he was
turned on to the rock and roll sounds of Elvis,
Jerry Lee Lewis and the Everley Brothers.
Then, along came the Beatles and that changed
everything. During his last year of high
school, Dave discovered Bob Dylan and soon was
performing in some of the coffee houses around
Montreal, most notably the New Penelope where he
frequently was one of the "warm up"
performers for such legendary folk artists as Ritchie
Havens, Eric Anderson and Tim
Buckley. A brief stint in the army brought
Dave to Canada's west coast.
Today
Dave lives in Sooke, just outside Victoria.
He has been playing in bands and as a solo artist
on Vancouver Island since moving here in
1970. He was an original member of
Victoria's popular Nightshift band for many
years. He has also played with the late and
much loved Tommy "Johnny Cash" Craycroft
and the Black Mountain Band as well as Mr. Puffy,
featuring Joyce "the Voice" Alanson.
Dave also spent time touring Ontario with the
popular club act, Footloose.
Dave
is currently recording his own CD of original
material at Motormouth Project Studio.

Julia
Wilkes
Video Production
(Switcher)
Julia
is currently
a student and has always had a passion for music
and the industry. She has found her main
love in life to be music whether it be listening
to it, playing it, or working with it. She
enjoys mostly old music from 1920’s top delta
blues musicians like Robert Johnson, to the
1980’s where Joe Walsh was in his prime.
There is no bigger love in her life than the
Beatles and Led Zeppelin for they are all that is
rock. Julia has always had the dream of
working in music and film and she finds
production and process fascinating.
"I
came across a man named Kim Boux through a good
friend of mine who was volunteering at his
studio. I was introduced and from there a
journey began. I have been working with
Kim and Motormouth
Studio for over
a year now and have never had an experience or
opportunity like this. I have been able to
learn and work in the music and film field first
hand. I have my small (but powerful) foot
in the door for the industry I one day hope to
be my life.
I
look forward to the years ahead as my experience
and knowledge grow. I have learned so much
thus far and continue learning every
second. For anyone who is in my boat, I
highly suggest finding a studio to volunteer for
as this has been and will continue to be the
most rewarding experience of my life."
At
the studio, Julia's main title is a switcher,
though her duties range considerably. She
handles video gear and has learned how to keep a
steady hand when carrying a camera (not as easy as
it looks by the way). Julia runs the video
van and basically just keeps all captures in
check. She has been trained in the field of
sound as well and has had the opportunity to
overlook and observe recording sessions.
Here at the studio, she has also learned a fair
amount about photography and has gained knowledge
about everything from lighting perspectives to how
to tell someone to pose. Although mastering
a good photo of herself is still something yet to
come.

Morgan
Fry & Rae Cassidy
Morgan
Fry Photography
Morgan
has been working for Motormouth
Project Studio
for a few years as a promotional photographer, set
designer and video production assistant. He
has had some help along the way with his assistant Rae
Cassidy, who has helped on numerous shoots.
"As a team, we have found
it a rewarding challenge to work with
Motormouth
Studios and with the plain to wild styles of the
musical artists. It is also challenging
finding out which place works with the individual or
group, on location and on set. I also set up story
lines for video and photography production. My
photography includes head shots, stills for video
production, groups and individual set work as well
as on
location and on set photography."
Morgan
has been studying
artistic modeling, nature, and classical black and
white photography. He has had one great influence when
he has gained
interest in doing this for a living, his father.
Morgan's
father has been a professional photographer for 40
years. Through his teachings he has gained more of
a respect for the technical aspects as well as
finding my his own style.

Stephen
Hawkes (Steve)

(Percussion)
Stephen
Hawkes is the studio drummer. He brings life and
great beats to each and every one of the clients'
songs, and always carries around a pocketful of
humor for gray days.
Steve
works every Monday in the studio with Breanne and
Rebecca and the other band members, working cooperatively
and appropriately with them. But we all know how
to keep him happy. Don't mess around with his drum
settings, and keep the fridge stocked high with
cookies! Though crazy and downright silly a lot of
the time, Steve can be serious too, like when it
comes time to record tracks and the like. Steve is
also in a band outside the studio, which we are
sure does great.

Bennett
(Ben) Mosher

(Rhythm Guitar)
Ben
Mosher is the very talented rhythm guitarist at
the Studio. Ben tends to conceal his emotions very
well, but we all know he enjoys being here working
with the people in the studio. He's able to work
swiftly and thoroughly with studio clients in
coming up with off-the-top basic rhythms, and then
adds to them later on when the song progresses, or
when working with the band. Ben gets a long with
everybody, and it is almost impossible to even frustrate
him. He constantly keeps his cool with a calm,
collected composure in the studio.
Not
only is Ben an excellent guitarist, but he's also
an amazing mathematician. Outside of studio work,
he tutored Rebecca in math for her grade 10 class,
and now tutors Rebecca's younger sister for math,
every Thursday. On top of work, tutoring, and
studio business, Ben still finds time to spend
with his loved ones, and continue is own schooling.
